Sun Parlour Folk Music Society

Road to FolkFest Concerts Presents

Our hearts are heavy with the loss of one of our festival family members, Yves Brouillard.

Most of you have gotten to know Linda Skowby over the past 3 years as the Coordinator of the Admin crew for the Kingsville Folk Festival and some as a fellow Bingo volunteer have also gotten to know Linda and her love and soul mate Yves Brouillard. Yves also joined us as a first time folk fest volunteer this year.

Sadly, Yves passed away Friday, September 9 in London from injuries sustained from an accident. A father, spouse, sportsman and volunteer, Yves spirit lives on through the generosity of organ donation thereby giving life to others. For those who wish, here are the details for visitation.

The Sun Parlour Folk Music Society will honour Yves with a 2017 MAY FUNd Scholarship dedicated to his memory.

2016 Festival favourites, Union Duke is a Toronto folk quintet with an explosive live show. Bridging soulful indie rock with bluegrass and country, the group belts out soaring harmonies with three, four and even five voices. The songs are irresistible, the perfect fit for the heatwave of the dance hall or the cool breeze of the park. These five guys have been making a commotion in one way or another since they were kids, and years of making music together have brought them to this: a heartbreak of twang and a bootshake of rock and roll. Union Duke is two fifths city, two fifths country, and one fifth whiskey.
